Information Security Showcase
BCS (Hong Kong Section) is the supporting organisation of the following event.
Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) is going to organize the Information Security Showcase (formerly known as Information Security & IT Service Management Conference) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 14 July 2010. The Showcase aims to provide a broad outlook on the latest cyber attack trends as well as the defense strategy and mechanism in Information Security and IT Service Management. Experts from the industry will be invited to share their experience and knowledge in the Showcase.

Hong Kong Clean PC Day 2010
The "Hong Kong Clean PC Day 2010" Campaign is coorganized by the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT), the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) to promote information security awareness of the general public. We will hold a series of seminars in May, July and November 2010 and a creative video competition in Q3 2010
The nearest seminar "Cyber Security Attacks and Mitigation" will be held on 28 May 2010 (Fri) in Lecture Theatre, Tuen Mun Town Hall.

BCS Mentorship 2nd Corporate Visit - Group Sense (International) Ltd. Dongguan Factory

The 2nd corporate visit- Group Sense (International) Ltd. Dongguan Factory - organized by the BCS mentorship programme, will be held on 17 April 2010. Group Sense (International) Ltd. (GSL) is the world leading manufacturer of electronic dictionaries and other handheld information devices. GSL launched the first English/Chinese electronic dictionary in Hong Kong under the brand name of "Instant-Dict" which has since become the leading consumer brand in the Greater China market. GSL has also been granted numerous awards including the various awards of Hong Kong Awards for Industry. This visit is a great chance to understand the production facilities and the manufacturing processes of the GSL factory in Dongguan. We believe that it would be a valuable tour.

The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, IT Division Annual Conference and Dinner 2010
Information Technology Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers will host its Annual Conference and Annual Dinner for 2010 on 16 April (Friday) at the Regal Hong Kong Hotel, Causeway Bay.
Themed "The Way to Digital City - Sustainable Information Infrastructure and Solutions", the objectives of the conference this year are to provide a unique platform for the IT professionals, business leaders and government officials from Hong Kong and Mainland to share their perspective and successful experience on developing sustainable information infrastructure and solutions for the local community in Hong Kong as well as the Mainland. Forum on the Budget 2010-11

Hong Kong Observatory harnesses cutting-edge technologies in providing world-class weather services. BCS (HK Section) had organized a visit to the Hong Kong Observatory on 13th March. It is a great chance to understand more about their services and applications of technology in their daily work. In addition, there would be a tour to their Central Forecasting Office which is used for the preparation and issue of weather information, forecasts and various warnings on hazardous weather to the public, shipping community and aviation groups. In addition, the tour will also cover the studio for television weather programme production, as well as meteorological instruments. We believe it would be a valuable and interesting tour.

Visit to Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
Full House. Thank you for your support.
The Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station is an important facility of the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. By capturing and processing satellite-sourced remote sensing data, the Station can provide useful information that is useful to Hong Kong, South China and neighbouring regions. Examples of applications may include environmental survey, weather, oil spill, hill fire and change of area etc.
The visit covers:
1) Operations of the Satellite Remote Sensing Receiving Station of CUHK; and
2) Related Applications, research and services; and
3) Visit to the Satellite Station and the receiving antenna.
