The British Computer Society (Hong Kong Section) was established in 1990 as a local representation of BCS in Hong Kong. The Section has been active in the ICT community and has participated in many ICT Events in the past years. It has maintained a very close and mutually respected relationship with other ICT professional bodies within Hong Kong and China.
The Mentorship Programme 2008 being organized by the newly established Young Professionals Group welcomes all tertiary education students under ICT-related curriculum, or fresh graduates with less than two years work experience. The programme operates for the duration of five months; participants are encouraged to maintain their relationship after the end of this programme.
Objectives
- To provide an opportunity for ICT students and fresh graduates to understand the business environment and interact with senior ICT professionals from different fields in Hong Kong.
- To provide our young members with exposure to different fields in ICT, e.g. software development, support, networking, etc., as well as guidance to shape their career paths.
- To nurture a new generation of ICT professionals and promote sustainable development of ICT industry in Hong Kong.

Contents
- Kick-off Ceremony/Meeting (Nov 2008)
This event kicks off the programme, and let mentors and mentees to meet.
- Regular Meetings (Dec 2008 – Feb 2009)
Any kind of meeting between mentors and mentees. 1-2 meetings per quarter is recommended (around 1.5 - 2 hours per meeting).
- Corporate Visit (Jan 2009)
Joint visit for all mentors and mentees, suggested destination can be leading corporate of one of the mentors. Can also join into pre-defined visits of BCS (HKS), if any.
- Closing Forum (Mar 2009)
Sharing from Mentors and Mentees.
Application Requirements
- ICT Students (university or tertiary institutions); Or
- ICT Graduates with 1 to 2 years working experience
Criteria of selecting the participants
- Extra-curricular activities including voluntary working experience.
- Working experience
- Interview Session (Group Interview, optional)
Criteria of gaining the certificate
- Participation of kick-off ceremony, mentorship meetings, evaluating period and closing ceremony is a must
- Satisfactory performance, which is evaluated by the mentors
